Drive direct action with Suggested Actions
Make it easy for the customer to take the next step without leaving the conversation. With Suggested Actions, you can integrate buttons that trigger the mobile phone’s built-in functions—such as opening a specific webpage, making a phone call, showing directions on a map, or adding a meeting to the calendar.

What are Suggested Actions?
Unlike Suggested Replies (which send a text message back to the sender), Suggested Actions perform an action locally on the user's phone. The buttons are neatly displayed alongside a Rich Card, an image carousel, or a text message. When the customer taps the button, the phone's built-in apps open immediately, creating an app-like, professional user experience without long, unsightly text links.
The four main measures
Open URL
Link directly to a landing page, a product page, or a pre-filled shopping cart. You can also use 'WebView' to open the page in a secure mini-format within the messaging app itself.
Start call (Dialer Action)
Add a button labeled "Call support" or "Contact sales." Pressing the button opens the phone's keypad with your phone number already pre-filled.
View Location
Send precise GPS coordinates or an address. When the customer clicks, Google Maps or Apple Maps opens automatically for direct navigation to your store or a parcel pickup point.
Add to Calendar (Calendar Event)
Perfect for dentists, workshops, and hair salons. Send an invitation that allows the customer to add the appointment—including time, location, and description—to their mobile calendar with a single click.
Create frictionless customer journeys
E-commerce Conversion
Replace bit.ly links with a sleek "Complete Purchase" button below an image carousel. The button takes the customer directly into the checkout flow, inspiring maximum trust.
Booking Confirmations & Trips
Include both "Show hotel on map" and "Save to calendar" in the same booking confirmation to provide the traveler with everything they need before departure.
Crisis and Support Escalation
If a chatbot cannot resolve the customer's problem, display a "Call Support" button that directly connects the customer to a human agent via phone.

Frequently Asked Questions about Suggested Actions
Yes, absolutely. You can have a button that opens a webpage (Action) next to a button that replies "I need more time" (Reply) under the same message.
You can send up to four standalone suggested actions (such as chip buttons) at the bottom of a standard text message. If you use Rich Cards, you can include up to three buttons within each individual card.
Can we track clicks on the Open URL buttons?
In addition to the webpage itself loading (where you can capture the traffic data), 'Open URL' in RCS also supports postback payloads. Your API can receive a confirmation from the operator that the button was clicked.
Yes. When RCS is delivered to an iPhone user (iOS 18+), the operating system translates the map coordinates so that they open seamlessly in Apple Maps, whereas Android users are directed to Google Maps.
